What a great write-up! Thanks! I have started 2 brokerages that failed because of government intervention. There is so much more to story, lack of accountability in the industry killed the “King of the Road”. I was also an owner/operator. Noe you have “dispatchers” functioning as brokers without accountability! In my opinion, the whole industry along with the DOT and FMCSA all need to be revamped!
So ultimately the victim of an accident involving a questionable CDL licensee or a non resident holder should be able to sue the state regulatory agency for damages..along with the broker and trucking company.
A relative stopped making runs into CA because of their draconian regs and policies. Then to do something about the downturn in carriers, the State geniuses found ways to invert the whole concept of safety and responsibility by giving illegal aliens CDLs.
Every person, association, and state apparatchik who brought that policy into existence, starting with Newsom, should be incarcerated for the fraud that it is in present reality. It’s been a colossal racketeering scam too long. CA probably needs to be 2 or 3 states (Republics) rather than one.
It seems to me that the whole state government and affiliated organizations should be placed under a bankruptcy reorganization program, and prove competency to lead.
Other states, especially New York also need reorganization.
The corporate charters of these places are deeply core to the problems they represent.
I have thought that the COS — Convention of States — might be the answer to the problems of our Union, but the more you know about business conduct at state and national levels, the more fantastical it seems that a constitutional convention could reorganize the government in a realistic, national way.
But if Trump or a majority of America First patriots don’t crush the sedition of ‘sanctuary’ cities and states, the virtual coup on American sovereignty will descend into the chaos of civil war over how authority will be exercised in America, and soon.
