I've already written to Tillis and called his office twice telling him to support the Martin nomination. I've assured him I will donate to, and work for, whoever primaries him if he opposes Martin. I've also written to Sen. John Thune to fix this if Tillis does not. This would include removing Tillis from the Judiciary Committee, reassigning his office to a janitor's closet, cutting his staff and expense budgets, pulling his parking passes, etc. If the Democrats can maintain their caucus to pass Obamacare at the expense of a number of their Congressional seats, the Republicans must be tough enough to do the same. Thune can punish Tillis and absolutely should. The President can also tell Tillis none of his nominees for judgeships, ambassadorships, etc., will be accepted. None. Full stop. Since this is a common way both parties reward long time supporters, this chops the legs from under Tillis. I suggest all readers here do the same..

Good for you, Daniel! We need action not talk. And I think the president needs to be more forceful in explaining the consequences if Tillis and other GOP senators tank Ed's nomination. They need to pay--Thune certainly won't do it.

This makes me sick. Tillis is a swamp creature and a coward. I’m praying his constituents are mounting a pressure campaign on him to change his mind. I fear there will never be accountability for the evil ones who incited J6.

Julie Kelly's avatar

Exactly, Cathy--what is he trying to cover up? And it appears Tillis wasn't even aware of the 1512c2 issue until Ed brought it to his attention. As an attorney and an elected official AND a senator tasked with DOJ oversight--Tillis should be outraged. Instead, he threw DOJ a lifeline while throwing his own constituents under the bus. He needs to be removed from office.

You don't have to be smart to be vindictive. And clearly Tillis is just that. Too bad, eventually the DeMS-13 whiners will get it through their southern ended brain trust of intelligence (their butts) that they were gutted handily by a contingent of Trump Likers who took the DeMS-13's ball and ran away.

@Julie, I read that crap online today about Tillis being a "no" how can that guy be so oblivious to some of the broader points??

1) It's referred to as the "people's house". We have video of Capitol Police holding doors open for rally goers/protesters to enter. I for one would not have known if I was trespassing if I walked in??

2) The fundamental truth that the "event" never happens if there had been adequate security. Willis wants to hold wrongdoers accountable. Hold accountable those in charge of Capitol who did not secure the Capitol. It was their negligence, lack of foresight, or bowing to political pressure that allowed it to happen. This was not armed, grenade throwing rioters. It was angry, riled up citizens with flags, water bottles, bike racks. Again, in my mind, it more closely matched sports fans storming the field/court after a football/basketball game and ripping down goal posts, basketball hoops than an attempted takeover.

Can people like Tillis be so thick skulled to take the "hang Pence" literally?? Even with all the anger of that crowd, Im quite certain Noone wanted to publicly hang Pence.

OK, this is too long already. This is very disappointing seeing how some of the Senate/House Republicans can't put Team first at critical junctures.

His laughable statement about the Capitol being "destroyed" is alone disqualifying. He doesn't even know the basics of Jan 6 but is ok with Biden DOJ trying to throw dozens of his own constituents in federal prison for basically nothing.

So, Tillis and now Lindsey I read oppose as they don’t like Ed providing lawful, constitutionally protected defense of our citizens. But they have no problem large law firms blackmailing any attorney defending President Trump. These MFers once and for all need to be primaried and taken out of the Senate

If Boasberg appoints we don’t need any more evidence that Senators were involved with J6 and actively support the Judiciary currently blocking President’s Trump agenda.

So infuriating……

It would be hard to believe that only one party (Dems) were involved in Jan 6. Half of the republicans didn't like Trump (jealous). So now that you mention it, I can see some Republicans involved, it would lend credibility to the fact that most of them have sat on their asses and done nothing concerning Jan 6 to help those wrongfully incarcerated.

I believe Mitch McConnell was involved as well. Recall his sergeant at arms worked with Pelosi's SAA to deny requests for the National Guard. He warned GOP senators that their plan to demand a 10-day election audit would be one of the biggest mistakes in Senate history and demanded the certification of Biden and Harris. No one wanted to halt the proceedings that day more than McConnell.

I was not happy with the president's comment, either. And just watch him endorse Tillis next year just like he did with Lindsey Graham. We will not rid ourselves of these phony Republicans until Trump (Musk?) flex muscle and money to oust them.

Yeah, I was perplexed as well, unless he knows that he needs Gillis and Graham.

I’m sure they are working behind the scenes. Tillis complaint about J6 is really outrageous. He’s not my Senator but I called and blasted him, somewhat politely as they have not earned any respect.

Tillis has a problem with Martin defending the J6 rioters, it’s his job! He is a defense attorney, everyone is entitled to an attorney if they cannot afford one they will be provided one. Ed Martin was doing his as an attorney to defend his clients! Tillis needs to face reality and understand Martin is an outstanding defense attorney and will be an asset when he is appointed. Tillis also needs to know if he continues to delay the committee from bringing this to a full vote and voting for Ed Martin he will have committed political suicide

I agree. Ed did his job and understands what happened to these folks far better than Tillis or anyone on Capitol Hill. If Senate Republicans fails to confirm Ed, it will represent the beginning of the end of GOP control of Congress.

The Thom Tillis needs to be unelected if he doesn’t listen to his constituents. It doesn’t matter if they participated in J6 activities. I would like an investigation into why is he a RINO? He aight to pay attention to what really happened on that day. Julie Kelly you could provide the list. If this guy is unwilling to pay attention to situations, he must be a Democrat. Why does this frequently happen to the Republican Party? There has been much worse protests in this country that makes J6 look like a walk in the park. The primary reason for the brutal unjust sentencing is due to these people are Trump supporters.

That is why the assassin at Butler, PA on July 13, 2024 , his body cremated immediately and crime scene potential evidence scrubbed. The Democrats have a lot of power. I think Thom Tillis realizes that. He knows who controls DC.

Mind you, Trump would be a bloody scattered brain if he didn’t turn his head. That July 13, 2024 tells me a lot about the Democrats. They have done so much damage in DC that may not be reversible. Plus they have street animals protecting their cause.

Karen, I could send Tillis an audio version of my book and he still could not be bothered with the facts. He clearly prefers to be ignorant and is married to his version of events no matter what the DOJ did to his constituents. What a lunkhead and a fraud.

I really think Tillis is afraid Martin and others within the DOJ will expose what happened on Jan 6 and Republicans--like Tillis--will have no idea how to bring necessary consequences. Just like COVID or the Iraq War or any other government-made catastrophe, Republicans would rather wander thru the tulips than do their jobs with courage and compassion.

If Tillis is still peddling the lie that Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick was murdered by Trump supporters that should tell you all you need to know.

His self-righteousness might get him voted out of office. Since he seems to be worthless-no real lose except that the seat may go to a democrat who isn't calling himself a republican.

Tillis is a DICK!

Surely, there is someone in North Carolina that could primary him maybe someone hit by Hurricane Helene. Too bad Lara Trump moved to Florida. Wonder if they still have a home in North Carolina?

Maybe Michael Whatley could challenge Tillis.
