As a native Texan, I'm embarrassed by the way Sen. Cornyn has behaved. He has NOT been a gracious loser, or a Texas gentleman or even a man who cared about his constituents. He has acted like a petulant child. As for the reimbursement fund for non-violent and non-criminal J6 protesters, I do think they deserve restitution for the harm and expense caused by a truly radical and evil Attorney General, Merrick Garland. John Cornyn couldn't kiss up to Garland fast enough when he was awaiting senate confirmation. THIS is why Cornyn was crushed in the primary. It's his own fault.
Both Thom "The Turd" Tillis and Johnny Corn-pop were full-scale reprobates who deserve eternal scorn from all Americans. As far as I'm concerned, they had careers unblemished with success. Maybe they can go on missions hunting for dodo-bird eggs in the Ukraine after their disastrous careers as Senators.
I still am queasy about when Corn-pop decided to help try to pass Democrat-led gun control a few years ago. If I were one of his constituents, I would have turned my back toward him that day.
Well as I see it, they may win this “battle” but not the war. There is nothing to say that after Jan. 2027 this fund cannot be set up again. I believe the government does owe restitution to many who lost everything and to the families who saw their love ones committ suicide. I realize this is taxpayer money but there should be somewhere to ACTUALLY cut budget items and use those funds.
Politics is a game of give and take, I rarely disagree with Trump but I did on his decision to give the settlement funds to the victims of lawfare and weaponization by the Biden Administration. Some will completely disagree with me and I completely understand. I think It could have been done differently to give reparations to those targeted by Biden. It’s over now and Blanche will be confirmed, this is a huge win for our country! Blanche has been and will be one of the best AG’s in our history.

Trump was awarded the money because of his tax records that were leaked. It was a settlement from the 10 billion dollar suit. He should have taken the $1.776 billion dollars and set up a trust fund for those whose lives were unlawfully destroyed and all those affected by the Biden weaponization. No one could have stopped this like they did his lawfare and weaponization bill.
If we can get control of both chambers in the fall, I agree wholeheartedly. This needs to be done to make people who were unfairly prosecuted and persecuted whole. They can’t get back the time and stress but they can, and should, be compensated for what they went through.
Cornyn and Tillis will leave behind the usual Senate fossil record: Ukraine checks, media applause, Trump sabotage, and betrayal of their own voters. Tillis admits J6ers faced vindictive prosecutions, then blocks the remedy. Cornyn supported the Garland DOJ while Texans were being hunted for January 6. Now both men posture as guardians of fiscal virtue because compensation might go to political enemies of the Biden prosecutorial apparatus. Blanche will likely be confirmed, and that is good. But the fund concession is ugly. The people crushed by weaponized justice still deserve restitution, exposure, and accountability.
Their immature, stupid, senseless actions remind me of boys who forgot or never experienced wearing “ big boy pants” . Their little school yard actions have described them forever. They have cared not for what might be good for their constituents or for the country, only that the crowd would see them pick up their ball & bat and leave the yard together. Good riddance to both.
