Yes, I love the idea he is spending lots of money on lawyers. I doubt these big shooters are representing him pro bono. Nothing in it for them to do so.
Except as Julie Kelly pointed out, there is a good chance that nothing in terms of criminal justice will be coming to him. Burning through much of his personal assets to cover legal expenses will be the only thing guaranteed to happen to Smith. We are better off to hope he will lose whatever reputation he has as well as getting a permanent and ignominious place in history.
He's also not as loved in Dem circles as he may want people to believe. Dems blame him (and Garland) for delays in the indictments that prevented Trump from going to trial before the election. Not a lot of love there.
