Opinions issued over the past few days again demonstrate the overreach by judges in the nation's capital while reasserting the president's authority to implement his voter-driven agenda.
Julie, you pose a great question, the Republicans are all about hearings which result in no action. They seem to be doing snap shots and sound bites (Dan Bongino term) to make us think they are doing the will of the people. Reminds me of the Save America Act which 80% of the voters favor. Our Judicial System has become tainted by appointed political activist, their rulings are made according to who appointed them. What is very troubling I think it is only going to get worse as the unelected Judges will rule along party lines and by their TDS, since there are no repercussions when over ruled by the SCOTUS. There are several Judges who were appointed by Trump waiting to be approved by the Senate, the Senate Majority Leader, I use the term leader loosely , continues to stall and hold up these nominations, which I call disgraceful.
If you would have asked me at the beginning of 2025--would we be in the summer of 2026 with no action from Republicans on rogue federal judges--I would have said no. How silly of me! And GOP has more reasons now than back then!
Voter ID remains a powerful fund raising and turnout tool because it is so universally seen as reasonable. Passing legislation that throws the tool away was always going to be problematic.

Way too much inconsistency in what SCOTUS is doing. Roberts/ACB trying to appease both sides, it's obvious. Look at the Slaughter/Cook decisions. Why does the president have authority to fire numerous presidential appointees on various boards/commissions but not the most powerful one? I am hoping to dig into Cook opinion over the next few days.

A district judge can freeze policy for months, sometimes years, and even when the Supreme Court finally corrects the error, the stolen time is gone. Deportations delayed are deportations denied. Agency control delayed is presidential authority denied. Executive power becomes theoretical while D.C. judges, activist plaintiffs, and administrative-state lawyers run out the clock. Republicans cannot keep celebrating late SCOTUS wins while ignoring the pipeline that produces these nationwide injunctions, emergency stays, and lawfare roadblocks. The Constitution gives voters a president, not a rotating panel of D.C. managers.
Well said, Richard! And keep in mind, thanks to SCOTUS, the Fifth Circuit is STILL footdragging its decision on the Alien Enemies Act. That was yet another instance where SCOTUS should have simply concluded--as it suggested--AEA is not subject to judicial review (like TPS) and allow the deportation to continue. The president will lose at least TWO YEARS on executing that policy.
It only took them 90 years to make the correct decision on Humphrey's Executor, which was a horrible decision then. But now, people from the Deep State may not have that to rely upon again.
Correct. Why did it take them so long? Why didn't they kill it in the most recent cases where they ruled in favor of the president? Just too much gamesmanship--and fear.

They have to manufacture "harm" to justify the immediate injunctions. So they concoct a variety of reasons why they plaintiffs are in danger if deported (and dangers faced by Americans in cities across the country!) so they can order a hold on the policies. Nevermind the courts are not entitled to review most of the president's immigration-related policies to begin with!

Then again, These judges are supposed to be experts in the law. Surely the administration's attorneys would have pointed out the limitations on their review.

Korea, and so on I'd floof the USA with pregnant women so they could give birth to a potential president. Congress needs to do something but with losers like mentioned above and the current crop of losers in congress, Tillis, Murkowski, Cornyn, Cassidy, (loved him in the Partridge Family), McConnell et al., we won't get anything done and Thune is ineffective-just a taller McConnell.
