Thank you, David!

This is great news. Your family has already given so much with your investigations Julie, I applaud your husband's decision. God Bless.

Julie Kelly's avatar

thank you so much! I think we can do a lot for the city...

My prediction is that Julie and John Kelly quickly become targets of the DSA-Antifa pressure ecosystem, proving the point of the campaign. Chicago’s ruling class has tolerated disorder, school failure, street violence, business flight, and civic humiliation for too long. A serious law-and-order campaign threatens more than an incumbent mayor. It threatens the patronage web, the activist nonprofits, the union muscle, and the ideological operators who treat decline as a governing model. Courage is not the absence of risk. It is walking into the arena anyway. Julie Kelly knows lawfare. Now the Kellys are walking into Chicago politics.

Julie Kelly's avatar

They undoubtedly will come after us hard. We've already been told I am a target for J6 reporting and ties to the president. But I think enough Chicagoans are fed up with the decline of this great city and understand time is running out to salvage it.

I pray you're correct, Julie, but the history since at least Richard Daley (1955) forward has been one of extreme corruption (Rahm Emanuel possibly excepted). One of my first duties as a new VP of a publicly traded company was to deliver a high six figure check to settle a law suit on an O'Hare lease, it had to be made payable to (then Mayor) Harold Washington and hand delivered!

Well said.

ron's avatar

I would vote for him if I lived in chiraq.

Hey - if he's running as a demoncrat, maybe I can vote for him, anyway?

Pete Healey's avatar

As mayor Daley would say, "vote early, vote often!"

Jeanne Rouse's avatar

That is very funny?

Wayne Pearson's avatar

You don't need to live there-they don't require ID. Vote often.

ron's avatar

...and early.

Best of luck.

Julie Kelly's avatar

Thanks, Gabriella!

I wish him the very best, Chicago needs new law and order leadership. I would definitely vote for him if I could, maybe I’ll sneak in a mail in ballot. I look forward to watching him and listening to his voice for all Chicagoans. I cannot vote for him however I will send him a donation! Now on the victory!

Julie Kelly's avatar

That would be very much appreciated, WE! I will keep everyone posted!

War Eagle's avatar

Donation sent! Great video on his campaign web site!

Lynette's avatar

I donated too, but I needed an ActBlue warning. LOL.

Julie Kelly's avatar

Thanks to both of you! We are going to add another payment option...

Pete Healey's avatar

I was gonna say... There is no way I'm giving ANY personal information to ActBlue, especially not credit card information. Keep us posted, please.

Lynette's avatar

I used PayPal, but ActBlue has my address.

Maybe I'll be donating thousands to ActBlue now. Can I request refunds?

Pete Healey's avatar

While PayPal is better than ActBlue, I won't use it either, they can (and have) swept subscribers' linked accounts. They say they've discontinued this right, but they can reinstate it with the stroke of a pen.

War Eagle's avatar

Same here LOL

Your excuse for absence Is officially accepted! May your husband become the anti-Mamdani!

Thank you, Peter, and that's the plan!

I don't know anything about your husband Julie. But if YOU are married to him, that's good enough for me.

Chicago is my go-to example for what happens when law and order falls by the wayside. The authorities there have decided they're not going to lock up any more of the brothers. Chicago extrapolated to a national scale is why 6% of the population (black males) is responsible for more that 50% of the most violent crime.

Anyone who wants to play with the statistics should ask Grok these two sets of questions:

1) What percent of violent crimes in the US are committed by black males? Answer: Around 25-35% for overall violent crime arrests (depending on year and definition), but significantly higher (~50%+) for the most serious subsets like murder and robbery.

2) in an average year, what percent of murder victims are black males? How many males are murdered, and how many black males are murdered in an average year? Answer: In recent years (e.g., 2023 data), Black males make up roughly 50-55% of known murder victims in the US, despite being about 6-7% of the population.

For clarity, I don't think black people are genetically more violent that any other race of people. But young males raised in a home without a male figure definitely are. It doesn't matter what their race is.

I wish your husband the best of luck.

Julie Kelly's avatar

Blacks are also disproportionately the biggest victims of violent crime. A recent poll indicated blacks in Chicago feel the least safe. We need to make the city, especially public transit, safe for everyone!

God Bless you both. I hope you have hired a security detail already. P.S. Beefed up your Husbands social media stats.

Julie Kelly's avatar

Thanks, Sandy. We definitely have security...and thanks for helping boost his following!

Nearly delirious at this wonderful news, Julie. If Chicago has a vibrant future, it will begin with your brave husband's candidacy. Please let me know how I can volunteer to help. No task too small.

Julie Kelly's avatar

That's incredibly kind, Bill. Thank you so much!

My husband is running for mayor of Chicago!

Good Luck!

FYI The Last Non Democratic Party Mayor William Hale 'Big Bill' Thompson Jr.

Julie's hubby is a Democrat.

Steve's avatar

These things happen even in the best of families. I have a nephew who is a used car salesman. These things happen.

Lynette's avatar

I was a Dem for 28 years, and then came Marxist Obama and Hillary who didn't fight for the nomination.

Steve's avatar

Today's Democrat Party?

All the best for victory in the hotbed of corruption.

Thanks, we need it :)

I lived in Chicago in the 80s - he sure sounds like Chicago. His election will be wonderful.

Julie Kelly's avatar

Haha yes he has a great Chicago accent, David!

David M Royalty's avatar

I’m guessing he grew up there.

Leslie Deak's avatar

Good luck to him!! Johnson is so unbelievably awful, he deserves to be banned from the city for life. Taking on Chicago’s political machine is not going to be easy, so best wishes to him!!

Julie Kelly's avatar

Thanks, Leslie!

Great news, Julie, Good luck to John and you, I know it will be hard work. But thank goodness someone with common sense is willing to fight against that awful human being Brandon Johnson. OMG he is a disgrace and as mayor he has been so ineffective, John will look like Superman if he just does the right things that actually help people. I love his “living room” idea, smart and real: connecting with actual people where they live - literally! I also like his more cops on trains idea. I don’t live there but if I did, that would be a huge safety issue. He seems like a good man, and he must be since he was smart enough to marry you! Again best of luck to him!
